Harvey One Room Schoolhouse Verified listing

Harvey One-Room School at 1120 Caldwell Road, south of
Bucyrus, began as a log structure in 1835 on a parcel of the Harvey
family homestead. A brick building replaced it in 1876 and was in
use until 1917.
Today, with restoration complete in 2003, visitors have been able
to explore the history of early education. Artifacts include
German books and a library, desks, slates, a clock, flag,
blackboards, a pot-bellied stove, games, a dunce cap, and a piano
for singing. These enable our volunteer school marms to bring
experiences of a typical school day to adults and children. A ramp
welcomes handicapped friends. Outside is a prairie to view,
outhouses, a water pump, and maypole unit. We enact a typical
day of rural education while sharing values like integrity, respect,
and pride.
