Where:  Heckert Nature Preserve (1601 OH-19, Galion, OH 44833).

Why:    All 88 counties in Ohio will plant a white oak tree due to the tree’s resilience, adaptability, and Ohio-native status–all in celebration of America 250.

More details:

Sponsored by Cenovus Energy, this initiative is a chance for Crawford County to engage in a meaningful, environmentally sustainable project to help celebrate our nation’s heritage. The Heritage Trees Planting History project will see one oak tree planted in each of Ohio’s 88 counties in 2025 and 2026.

The tree will serve as a living symbol of Ohio’s contributions to the United States, and a reminder of the importance of community, history, and environmental stewardship.
