It enables us to coordinate large-scale programming, such as the Crawford County America 250 events, and to pursue collaborative funding opportunities, including the America 250-Ohio Grants, which encourage single, unified applications from multiple organizations.
Our work is centered on three key pillars: preservation, education, and community engagement.
Preserving Our Legacy:
We support our member organizations in their efforts to safeguard artifacts, documents, and landmarks. The Local history archives Crawford County OH are at the heart of our mission, from the Scroggs House Museum’s collections in Bucyrus to the extensive research materials available at the Galion History Center’s Koppe-Skinner home. We also promote the historical preservation of key historic sites Crawford County Ohio like the Crestline Historical Society & Museum, which tells the story of the town’s railroad heritage.
Bringing History to Life:
As the lead organization for America 250-Ohio programming in the county, we are at the forefront of celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday. This multi-year commemoration allows us to showcase our local connection to the nation’s founding. We highlight projects like the Heritage Trees Program, where a symbolic white oak was planted at the Heckert Nature Preserve in honor of the Revolutionary War-era Liberty Tree. Through our coordinated efforts, we tell the stories of Ohio pioneers and founders like Colonel Crawford, a friend of George Washington who played a key role in the early Ohio statehood history of the region . We also promote participation in statewide initiatives such as the Ohio Creativity Trail and the Murals Across Ohio program.
